At Jardine Motors Group each business is responsible for identifying
the training needs of it's team and compiling a dealership training
plan: The
plan will cover the following:
- Induction training
- Manufacturer’s training
- Training required as a result of the performance appraisal
system
- Central training initiatives
- Succession planning
All identified training needs are incorporated into an annual training
plan which is completed in time for the cost implications of the
plan to be included in the annual budget. To meet the agreed training
needs, the Company will provide support for:
- Induction training
- On the job training
- Manufacturer’s training courses
- Career development training/Succession planning
- Central training courses
Induction
It is important that all new team members undertake
formal induction training. This training will commence from the
first day of their employment and will last for six months. During
this time new team members are trained, developed and reviewed.
The HR Department also runs Corporate Induction Days with the support
of operational staff . A summary of the induction process is detailed
below.
Dealership Induction
All new team members are presented with a six month induction plan
on their first day. This will ensure they fully understand our
mission
statement and values, as well as fully understanding the responsibilities
of the Group and their dealership. After their first week and
month,
all new team members have a formal review with the Dealership General
Manager . Reviews then take place after three months and six months
with their line manager. This will ensure they have the appropriate
skills to carry out their responsibilities to the high standards
we expect.
Job Induction
All new teams members spend their first week observing colleagues
from different departments. This allows them to fully appreciate
the importance of all roles within the dealership, as well as understanding
where their role fits in. In addition to this they will receive
on the job training and manufacturer's training where appropriate.
Group Induction
All new team members are invited to attend the Group Induction
Day. This is an informal fun day that provides information about
the
Group. There are several operational staff who help to present
this day. As well as providing interesting information about Jardine
Motors Group
and its plans for the future, we also take a question and answer
session at the end of the day. This proves very popular with staff
and reinforces the commitment we have in developing effective communication
within the Group.
On The Job Training
Each General Manager is responsible for identifying the standard
requirements for each job within the dealership. These standards
will provide the basis for the individual’s on the job training
programme. Line managers take full responsibility for on the job
training for their department to ensure team members are provided
with the skills and knowledge to carry out their duties to the
dealership
standards. Line managers are also responsible for coaching and
reviewing performance standards throughout the year, in line with
our staff
appraisal process. This process is essential to the success of
the Group as it allows the skills of the workforce to move forward
and
take the business with it.
Manufacturer’s
Training Courses
Each line manager is responsible for agreeing appropriate technical
training courses with the franchise manufacturer. This helps staff
like Vehicle Technicians keep up to date with modern technology
